ISO: Solution for Hidden Nook

I didn't get to Friday's "In Search Of" quest due to illness running rampant in the family (me first, then Jackson), but here's the dilemma of the week. There's a hidden nook in what I expect will be Caroline's room. I'm not sure how it happened, but we ended up with a little nook where the exterior wall curves and the framing does not.
Can you see it in the picture to the left? It's a bit small, sorry!

The only think I can think of to maximize this for storage (that room is going to have an uber-small closet, more on that later), would be to install a pull-out pantry like those usually seen in kitchens.

What do you think?

Hi,

This is Dana Korey and I am a Lifestyle & Professional Organizing Expert and owner of AwayWithClutter.com Here are my suggestions...I would totally do the pull out cabinet and if the depth is at least 10 inches or more, then i would use that space to store shoes and the tiny close for clothes. also consider that what ever flooring you use, be sure that the cabinet has clearance and wont scratch the flooring

I would put miniature glass shelves (or if safety is an issue at her age, plexiglass) in that space to display favorite toys, toll collections, stuffed animals, and as she gets older, favorite perfume bottles, framed pictures, etc--Sherri Comstock, The Cheshire Cat and The Spotted Crocodile, Grayslake, IL

I would put a wood molding frame around the opening to dress it up and make it look like it was intentional and not an "oops!" Then add adjustable shelves to make it appear wider since it is narrow. On some shelves you can put lovely decorative baskets and leave the rest open for books, stuff animals or decorations etc.If you use a pull out cabinet,it might help to have wheels on the bottom and supports on each shelf to prevent items from falling off the shelf when pulling it out. Then only store light items in it especially on the top shelf to prevent injury when pulling it out.
